7 Up (Almond, 1964)

The first of the now famous documentary series that charts the lives of British subjects every seven years. I never realized Apted was only a researcher on this project then went on to direct the other films. 7 Up lays an interesting foundation, providing the groundwork for the change in personality to come. Fascinating to see the different children from vastly contrasting backgrounds have similar emotions and prejudices. I feel like I have to look at this as part of a whole, one in which will forever be a changing and evolving experiment. I look forward to watching the rest in anticipation of 49 Up coming out next week.
