Brotherhood (Canon, 2011)

A few weeks back I covered Will Canon’s ridiculous fraternity thriller Brotherhood for Slant, and I almost forgot about the review. The film was pretty awful, so maybe my very recent entry on the worst films of 2010 jogged the old memory.

  1. Hey Jim – I read your piece on BROTHERHOOD and I was definitely expecting a rebuttal. With this one, I think we watched completely different films. No tension, creativity, or investment for me. I really liked BLACK SWAN, especially Portman’s bat shit crazy performance and the suffocating imagery. Guess we’ll have to agree to disagree on these two.

  2. Hey, this was filmed in my home-town, the incomparable Agg! The convenience store at the center of the pledge stunt was one I used to frequent, actually – right down the street from my family’s old apartment.

Movie might not be all that good, but it’s nice to see my old stomping grounds plastered right up on the big screen. Eerie, too.
